Sharing warmth this winter!
Winter is a trying time, especially on the streets where some of our most vulnerable children endure the brutal cold without a roof on their heads or warm clothes on their bodies. It is our constant endeavour to make life easier for these children. On 9th December 2015, we distributed over 1000 new blankets and sweaters to children and families who live around our PVR complexes across Delhi. We are happy that we could bring some warmth and comfort into their lives and we're looking forward to our next clothes distribution drive.
Multi-city India premiere of 'Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for women worldwide'
We partnered with 'USAID' (US Agency for International Development) and 'Show of Force: Social Good' for the multi-city India premiere of the widely acclaimed documentary 'Half the Sky' at PVRs across Delhi NCR, Mumbai & Bangalore. Eminent personalities such as film-maker Amol Gupte, leading women's healthcare practitioner Dr. Nandita Palshetkar & respected Justice Leila Seth supported the movement by being present at the special screenings and by felicitating some of the most inspiring women achievers of our time. The global movement cuts across platforms to ignite the change needed to put an end to the oppression of women and girls worldwide, the defining issue of our time. Inspired by journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn's book of the same name, 'Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide', the Movement brings together video, websites, games, blogs and other educational tools to not only raise awareness of women's issues, but to also provide concrete steps to fight these problems and empower women.
5000 popcorns, 5000 smiles!
Every year PVR Nest brings smiles to over 5000 under-privileged children through '5000 Popcorns'- A special movie screening for children in and around our PVR complexes! This year we conducted the largest multi-city screening of 'Everest' for our kids on Tuesday, 27th October, 2015. The screening was followed by a round of refreshments as well as an engaging discussion around the movie. Cinema has the power to influence, to educate and to empower, a privilege we hope to bring to every individual, especially our children!
